Christmas Holiday Tour Overview

Enjoy the Season of Advent in early December 2023, and experience the wonderful Christmas Markets, Holiday Attractions, Concerts, and more in Czech Republic, Austria, and Germany!

Alpventures® Christmas Holiday Tour offers you a chance to really get in the season and rejuvenate your holiday spirit right before Christmas on a magical journey to Old World Europe! The Christkindlmarkt (Christ-child market) scene is as old as the season itself: the smell of hot-mulled wine, roasted chestnuts and aromatic incense... The craftsmen, artists, and vendors huddled in their tiny wooden huts offering warm greetings. Enjoy the sounds of children discovering clever new toys, of carols in the distance. Join us to enjoy the spirit of Christmas on a journey to the Old World as you've never experienced! We start our Christmas Holiday Tour in Prague, Czech Republic; where we will visit the amazing Prague Old Town and its' wonderful Christmas Market. You will have plenty of time to explore this wonderful city before we move on to our next stop, the famous city of Nuremberg. Once the venue of Imperial Diets during the Middle Ages, the Nuremberg Christmas Market is the "Father of German Christmas Markets" - one of the oldest and today one of the largest found in Germany. After enjoying plenty of time at the famous market, we leave the big city for the quiet town of Rothenburg o.d.Tauber. Rothenburg is well known as the best-preserved medieval city in Europe, still surrounded by its ancient walls. Highlights here include a walking tour and the Käthe Wohlfahrt Christmas Village Store, with over 70,000 different crafted ornaments to choose from. We then head south for the Bavarian Alps, where you will experience the Winter Wonderland of Garmisch and Partenkirchen villages, as well as Oberammergau and King Ludwig II's enchanting Linderhof Castle. Situated in a snow-blanketed forest at the foot of the Alps, the fairy-tale King actually resided at the castle for 14 years (unlike his other castles, which he rarely frequented and were still under construction). We will continue to the breathtaking village of Berchtesgaden, near the Austrian border by Salzburg. Here we will experience the traditional Christmas legend of the Krampus and Buttnmandl (folkloric creatures that accompany St. Nikolaus on his visits to the alpine village). The unique Berchtesgaden Advent Market, the Christmas Market in Salzburg, as well as the famous "Silent Night Chapel" in Oberndorf, Austria are also included. We will finish up our Christmas Holiday Tour in Munich, the vibrant Capital of Bavaria - and enjoy the Spirit of Christmas, Bavarian Style!
